FAQs

How do we meet?

Back Home Therapy uses the “Jane” platform. Consent forms, booking, payment, and virtual sessions all happen on Jane. For in-person sessions, you can still book through Jane and I will make sure you have all location information prior to attending.

Is this covered by my benefits?

If you have extended health benefits, make sure you double check your coverage. You’ll want to look for if sessions with a registered social worker (RSW) are covered. Many extended health benefits cover counselling sessions with RSWs. I am a registered social worker in Alberta and British Columbia, and I have my Master of Social Work (MSW).

Do you direct bill?

Direct billing is not currently available. Once we have a session, your credit card on Jane will be charged and you will receive an invoice via email shortly after. If you have extended health benefits, you can submit this invoice to be reimbursed.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged $100. If you do not show for an appointment with no communication attempt prior to the session, you will be charged for the full session amount. Life happens and some exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

How often should I book?

Ultimately this is up to you and what works for you (or what your benefits allow). My opinion is that it is important to have some consistency, especially at first. For example, some folks will schedule weekly or biweekly sessions when we are first meeting or working through something, and then they will gradually schedule less often for maintenance.
